False Color Composites

As an exploratory first step towards documenting the spatial changes in the selected area, we visually compare the spatial changes in the Indian Sundarbans and the Bangladesh Sundarbans in 2000 and 2014. We use false colored red-green-blue (RGB) composites of different band combinations of these two datasets to qualitatively analyze this change. Shown in figures 3 and 4 are false colored RGB composites from 2000 and from 2014 of the Indian and Bangladesh Sundarbans respectively. In these RGB composites, land is shown as green and water as black. Varying shades of brown are also seen in the water representing suspended sediment. The figures below show changes in the areal extent of several small islands and of the shoreline, widening and narrowing of water channels in different places, and differences in the total suspended sediment in the water.
